Deck Work Will Reduce Rogers Road Bridge in Wake Forest to Single Lane on Saturday
Raleigh – To improve the safety and driving conditions on Rogers Road bridge in Wake Forest through the winter and until the structure is replaced next spring, the N.C. Department of Transportation plans to place new asphalt on the bridge surface on Saturday, December 12. The work will involve milling the existing asphalt surface on the bridge and approaches, and resurfacing with asphalt. NCDOT Converting Intersection in Southwest Franklin County to All-Way Stop
Raleigh – The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to modify the intersection of N.C. 96 and Pocomoke Road/Gordon Moore Road in southwestern Franklin County to a permanent all-way stop this week. The change is scheduled to take place Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m., and be wrapped up by that afternoon, weather permitting. Oxford Prep Students Donate over 5000 Pounds of food to ACIM
Over 5000 pounds was the total amount of food donated by Oxford Preparatory School students to ACIM this year. In the year 2014 a mere 117 students at Oxford Preparatory School collected almost 1800 pounds of food and donated it to ACIM. Students at E.O. Young Jr. Elementary School were given early Christmas gifts by leaders of Guiding Star United Holy Church when they brought new school supplies to the school. The church’s pastor Mary Williams leads a team of “People on a Mission” to help school children. On Saturday, December 5th 2015, at approximately 2:30am, members of the Henderson Police Department Patrol Operations Division responded to the area of 200 South Garnett Street, Henderson just outside KO’s Sports Grill in response to someone shot. When officers arrived, they found two victims, Darius Robinson, 22, 188 Franklin Road, Henderson and Jasmine Elise Spruiell, 21, 201 Hillside Drive, Oxford suffering from gunshot related injuries. Quarantine area for the imported fire ant expanding to include Graham, Halifax and Macon counties
RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is expanding a state quarantine for the imported fire ant to include all of Graham, Halifax and Macon counties effective Jan. 1, 2016. With the expansion, the quarantine now includes portions or entire areas of 74 counties. The quarantine continues efforts to monitor the spread of this pest and address mitigation or control measures.
