A Section of U.S. 401 Business to close for Paving Thursday Night
Raleigh—N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will close a section of U.S.401 Business in Rolesville this Thursday, Aug. 13, from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. on Friday, weather permitting. The road will be closed from the southern intersection with the U.S. 401 Rolesville Bypass to Jonesville Road. The closure is needed so crews can do final paving in this area. VGCC Names New Director of Student Activities & Athletics
Jeffrey Allen has been named the director of student activities and athletics at Vance-Granville Community College. Allen will oversee clubs, organizations and extracurricular activities that engage students on campus, as well as the college’s intercollegiate athletics program, which includes men’s basketball and women’s volleyball teams. He will also serve as the advisor for the VGCC Student Government Association (SGA). Final Shift on Rolesville Bypass Will Happen This Weekend
Raleigh–The final traffic shift on the U.S. 401 Rolesville Bypass will take place Saturday, Aug. 8, between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m., weather permitting. This will complete putting the bypass in its final four-lane pattern. Currently the northern section of the bypass from just south of Creek Pine Drive to N.C. 96 is in a two-lane pattern. N.C. wine and grape industry has $1.71-billion impact on state’s economy

Shooting in Henderson Highland Green Apartments, Reward Offered for Information
On August 3, 2015 around 12:21 AM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to Highland Green Apartments, 111 S. Pinkston Street Henderson, NC in reference to shots being fired. VGCC Nursing student coordinates Blood Drive
Vance-Granville Community College hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive on its Main Campus in Vance County on July 21. A VGCC Associate Degree Nursing student, Elaine Harrison of Oxford, served as coordinator of the blood drive. Harrison said that she was “very pleased” with the drive, which resulted in the donation of 19 units of blood. First I-40 Fortify Lane Reductions Expected to Begin Friday Morning
Raleigh – For the first time, Raleigh commuters could see some lane reductions as early as Friday morning on parts of eastbound Interstate 40 in the Fortify I-40 Rebuild work zone.
