Audrey K. Parker has been named the director of human resources at Vance-Granville Community College. A resident of Bahama, Parker has over 20 years of human resources experience working at or providing support to various companies, including Duke University, IBM and Cisco. VGCC Automotive students complete Work-Based Learning program
The Automotive Systems Technology department at Vance-Granville Community College recently recognized its first students to participate in the Work-Based Learning (WBL) program since the college expanded automotive training to a two-year degree program. WBL allows a student to gain relevant, resume-building experience with an employer, while also earning academic credit that counts toward a degree. NCDOT Converting Intersection in Vance County to All-Way Stop
Raleigh- The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to modify the intersection of Newton Dairy Road/Stewart Farm Road and Carey Chapel Road in Vance County to a permanent all-way stop on Thursday, June 18, weather permitting. The intersection currently requires vehicles to stop on Newton Dairy Road/Stewart Farm Road, but traffic on Carey Chapel Road does not have to stop. Henderson Police Department Arrests 3 on Heroin Charges
Sunday, June 14, 2015, a member of the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Unit arrested three individuals on heroin related charges. Michael Chad Kuehne, 41, 1121 Savannah Drive, Raleigh was charged with one count of felony possession of heroin and one count of conspiracy to sell/deliver heroin. Kuehne was placed in the Vance County Jail after failing to post a 25,000.00 secured bond. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled in Vance County District Court on June 23, 2015. Vance-Granville Community College’s Arts and Sciences division offered an enlightening public lecture series during the spring semester on the theme of “money,” including issues of economic inequality.
