STEM Application Process Extended to March 13th, 2015
The application process for rising sixth graders to enter the STEM Early High School for the 2015-2016 school year has been extended to Friday, March 13. Applications can be found on the Vance County Schools’ website at www.vcs.k12.nc.us. Information about the STEM Early High School and the application are attached. Current fifth-grade students and/or their parents should turn in completed applications to their elementary school counselors. The counselors also have copies of the STEM applications. 3 Arrested on Counterfeit Money Charges
On Thursday, February 19, 2015, members of the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Division executed a search warrant at 216 Zollicoffer Avenue in Henderson. As a result of the search, officers located counterfeit U.S. currency and the equipment used for manufacturing the currency. Tony Arron Touville II, 34, 216 Zollicoffer Avenue, Henderson was charged with possession of counterfeit currency. Touville was placed in the Vance County Jail after failing to post a 30,000.00 secured bond. A preliminary hearing has been …

LOUISBURG, N.C.— Louisburg College has been granted $150,000 to continue Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarships, which benefit the College’s female scholars. In accordance to the guidelines prescribed by the founder, the grantee awards institutions scholarship funding to award to Christian women who reside in one of the following southern states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Greenville Getting Results on Worker Wellness
In 2010, the City of Greenville in eastern North Carolina opted to self-insure its 850 employees. The city asked its insurance carrier, Cigna Health Care, to implement a wellness initiative. After offering a $25 incentive encouraging people to participate, just 23 percent of the city’s employees completed a health screening and health risk assessment. In a follow-up report, Cigna gave city leaders jaw-dropping findings, including the fact that 76 percent of the city’s workforce was at risk in three areas …
