N.C. Rural Infrastructure Authority Approves Building Reuse Grant for Thomasville
The N.C. Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) has approved a building reuse grant of $500,000 for the city of Thomasville with the commitment of 40 new jobs. North Carolina Commerce Secretary John Skvarla and Assistant Secretary for Rural Development Dr. Pat Mitchell made the announcement January 8. RALEIGH – A N.C. Department of Transportation sponsored study conducted by N.C. State University’s Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) on the American Tobacco Trail in Durham has concluded. The study set out to determine changes in trail usage that indicate impacts to transportation, health, and economic behaviors from the construction of a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over I-40. Search Warrent Leads to 4 Arrests on Drug Charges
On Tuesday, January 13, 2015, members of the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant at 305 Main Street, Henderson. During the search, officers recovered heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, pills and three firearms. Vance County Schools will make up the student day missed yesterday, Wednesday, January 14, on Wednesday, January 21, originally scheduled as a teacher workday. U.S. Figure Skating Championships to feature more competitors, bigger FanFest in Greensboro
Greensboro made a strong showing four years ago as host of the U.S. Figure Skating Championship, with more than 110,000 attending the various skating events. Add to that 26,000 who attended the free FanFest events outside the main arena, and 25,000 others who watched practices and other events on a second rink. I-440 Ramp Closure at Poole Road for Fortify Project Set for this Weekend
RALEIGH – Construction crews on the Fortify Project plan to close the ramp from Poole Road onto I-440 East in Raleigh this weekend, weather permitting, as well as the right turn lane from eastbound Poole Road onto the interstate in the same area. Dr. Larry Webb has been named as the new principal for Northern Vance High School, according to an announcement today by Superintendent Ronald E. Gregory. Webb has served as the principal of Eaton-Johnson Middle School for the last several years. He becomes the new principal for Northern Vance following the resignation of Dr. Michael Applewhite as principal of the school.
