Traffic Stop Ends in Shooting, Suspect Shot at Officer, then Self
On January 2, 2015 at approximately 1:34 PM an officer of the Henderson Police Department Patrol (Operations) Division made a traffic stop in the area Winder Street and Harriet Street. The Henderson Police Officer was confronted by the driver who produced a handgun and fired upon the officer. The officer was not struck and returned fire. Triangle Expressway Toll Rate Increase Begins Jan. 1; 14-22 cent increase for 17.4-mile trip
RALEIGH – A slight increase in the toll rate for the Triangle Expressway will take effect Thursday, Jan. 1, as required by the bond covenant created for the funding of the Expressway. The N.C. Turnpike Authority Board adopted a schedule of annual toll rate increases based on the financing requirements of the Triangle Expressway project, which set a 5 percent increase for 2015. Henderson Police Department and Bureau of ATFE Investigation Leads to Heroin Arrest
On Tuesday, December 30, 2014, members of the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Unit arrested Neno King. King, 23, 516 Whitten Avenue, Henderson was charged with one count of sale and deliver of heroin after a Vance County Grand Jury returned a true bill of indictment. The arrest, is another in the ongoing joint investigation of heroin trafficking and violent crime in the Henderson/Vance county area. RALEIGH — The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles will close its Louisburg driver license office on Tuesday, January 6, as the office is relocating. We recently warned of scammers calling consumers, pretending to be representatives of Duke Energy and threatening to cut off your power if you don’t pay them right away. OPHS Charter Amendment To Include 8th Grade Rollout Has Been Approved
Oxford Preparatory High School’s charter amendment request to restructure the offerings of the school by adding 8th grade in 2015-2016 and 7th grade in 2016-2017 has been approved by the Office of Charter Schools, per State Board of Education policy. NCDMV Announces Holiday Business Hours
RALEIGH — The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles’ driver license offices and license plate agencies will be closed from Wednesday, December 24 through Saturday, December 27 in observance of the Christmas holiday. VGCC History Club celebrates successful Food Drive
Vance-Granville Community College’s History Club recently conducted a food drive as its major service project of the fall semester. Students collected non-perishable food items, as well as paper products and hygiene products, all of which were donated to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. The Food Bank works with food pantries in all four of the counties in the college’s service area: Vance, Granville, Franklin and Warren. The donations weighed in at 522 pounds, which translates to …
