The railroad ran right through the center of the borough in which I grew up, but there were no street-level crossings for motorists or pedestrians (at least, no legal ones). If the NCDOT wants to close some of our crossings, would they consider replacing some of them with infinitely safer underpasses? Or are we just not worth the money?
