Folks, remember that when you think you’ve determined someone’s real identity based on spelling, style, tone, syntax, and other fairly unreliable literary features, you are really just indulging in speculation. There’s only one person who knows for sure, and trust us when we tell you that you don’t want to know! That being said, we’d love to hear some speculation as to winners and losers in some of the races other than the sheriff’s race this coming Tuesday. Let’s have …

Tuesday’s open line
Henderson City Council member Bobby Gupton has been on a mission to point out what he perceives as inequities in the joint funding arrangements between the city and the county (i.e. city residents paying approximately double what county residents pay for the same services). What can be done to correct this presumed imbalance? Give your suggestions on this or anything else on today’s open line.

We understand that elections rouse strong feelings and, in a way, that’s a good thing, because it shows that people care about who goes into office. Many would call it a sign of a healthy democracy. However, we must insist that comment posters follow the rules of propriety and good taste when taking up for their candidate of choice or going against the candidate they oppose. Please refrain from libelous statements or unfounded, unproven allegations. This space is yours. Enjoy.
Daylight savings time ends
Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night. We don’t know about you, but we’re looking forward to the extra hour of sleep!
Weekend open line
Although Home in Henderson encourages discussions of the upcoming election, it does not allow open endorsements (e.g. VOTE FOR X! or VOTE FOR Y!) of candidates except on a paying basis. Also, remember that libelous remarks and unproven allegations about candidates, businesses, or anyone else will be summarily edited or stricken. We believe that this editing is necessary to protect the forum so it may continue to serve Henderson far into the future, and we hope that readers and comment …
