We apologize for the technical issues that have been occuring for the past couple of days. We hope that this time they have been ironed out. Traffic on Home in Henderson has been light so far today, so we assume you’re wrapping things up at the Relay for Life or you’re at home resting up after the festivities. We’ll have some pictures up soon. Until then, stay cool!

We would have given anything (except our paying job) to have attended the Human Resources Committee meeting yesterday. If anyone has any insight into what happened, please be sure to let us know. We apologize for the gap in service yesterday. Someone forgot to put money in the meter. There’s lots to talk about, so we won’t even attempt to steer the conversation. En garde!

The Human Resources Committee will meet today at 9:oo a.m. at City Hall. We truly wish we could cover this meeting, as the pay raise for council members broached by Mary Emma Evans at Monday’s council meeting will be the topic of conversation. To summarize recent events: the council reaffirms its relationship with the Embassy Foundation by the narrowest possible vote, Evans advocates a raise for herself and fellow council members, the budget is days from being voted upon, the …

Yesterday’s city council meeting was everything we expected it to be. We wish we could have written more, but darn, that pesky paying job! The council seems to be pretty evenly divided. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Let us know your thoughts on this or anything else that concerns you. P.S. – We got off to a great start with “To the editor”. Let’s keep it up! Send your musings to letter-to-the-editor@homeinhenderson.com.

**Updated** In our ongoing effort to improve service, Home in Henderson has added a “To the editor” feature. Please send submissions to letter-to-the-editor@homeinhenderson.com. We do not have a maximum number of words (cyberspace is infinite), but submissions should adhere to the standards of decency which we have tried to establish over these many months. A full explanation of the rules and responsibilities of submission is available on the “Letters to the Editor” page in the left column of your screen. …

Since Peter White’s letter to The Daily Dispatch is clearly of interest to our readers, here is a link to it online: Victor White sends thanks to all who voted for him.

Against our better judgment, we’re curious about the progress of George Hoyle’s quest for signatures to get on the ballot this fall. We wouldn’t mind having a chat with him, either. Keep us and each other informed on this or any other topic on today’s open line. P.S. – We can’t remember who asked, but there are approximately 12,800 comments distributed among 1,194 article posts over the lifetime of the blog.

We never saw ourselves writing such a hackneyed line, but there’s a new sheriff in town. We have this sneaking suspicion that’s all anyone is going to want to talk about, so we want a good clean fight with all punches clean and above the belt. Don’t make us kill someone just to change the topic.

We knew we forgot something. The highly contentious primary race for Vance County Sheriff will be decided on Wednesday. We understand that early voter turnout is already double what it was before the regular primary earlier this month. Have at!
