Weekend open line
As 2005 draws to a close, the issue of city management still very much up in the air. If Jerry Moss, clearly the council’s top or only pick, declines the offer, where should the council go from there? Let us know your thoughts on this or any other topic. We’re here to listen.
Friday’s open line
The City Council meets tonight at 5:00 p.m. for its special meeting. As most of you are aware by now, the council is slated to vote on the recommendation of Jerry L. Moss as Interim City Manager that will be made by the newly-created Search and Transition Committee. Let us know your feelings about this or anything else on our open line.

The Search and Transition Committee met yesterday for the purpose of discussing applications for the position of Interim City Manager. According to The Daily Dispatch, retired veteran city employee Jerry L. Moss will get the tap at Friday’s special City Council meeting for the job. Well, the city’s Finance Department took another loss yesterday with a retirement announced to begin in two weeks. In related news, according to the Daily Dispatch, Acting City Manager Mark Warren must sign or stamp each outgoing check. Stanley “Tookie” Williams, co-founder of the notorious “Crips” gang, is scheduled to be executed early Tuesday if not granted a stay of execution. To repeat a question raised at Thursday’s gang awareness seminar, can we expect a reaction here in Henderson if the execution goes on as scheduled? Or is our gang problem not as serious as that? As always, the floor is open to debate.
