I listened to the portion of yesterday’s installment of WIZS’ Town Talk concerning Home in Henderson, I believe that a portion of the criticism regarding comment posts is valid. There certainly could be more civility, more information, less bile, and less ruthless partisanship in comment posts. My mother always said that you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. And with my mom’s cooking, she knew a lot about attracting flies. Here’s your open line.

School board to hold called meeting today
The Vance County Board of Education will hold a special called meeting today, Monday, February 14, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. for the purpose of conducting an executive session. The special meeting will be held at the Administrative Services Center, 1724 Graham Avenue in Henderson, North Carolina. The regular monthly meeting of the board will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the same location.
March county commission meeting changed to 14th
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ regular monthly meeting for March of 2011 has been rescheduled by a resolution of the board from March 7, 2011 to March 14, 2011. The meeting will be held at the usual place and time: the County Administration Building, 122 Young Street in Henderson, North Carolina at 6:00 p.m.
Sweetheart’s Breakfast Feb. 12
There will be a Sweetheart’s Breakfast at the Liberty Christian Church on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The cost is $6 per person. The menu includes eggs, grits, bacon, sausage, homemade biscuits, coffee, and juice. The Liberty Christian Church is located on NC 39 South in the Epsom Community of Vance County.
