Halloween (Trick or Treat) night for the children in the City of Henderson will be observed on Wednesday, October 31, 2007.

The Henderson Fire Department will be holding an open house at the Fire Station #1 on Dabney Drive from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

In connection with National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month (September) and Drug Awareness and Prevention Month (October), Five County Mental Health Authority, the school districts and local business partners are sponsoring a poster contest for children grades six through eight.

The Vance County Chapter of the American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at Southern Vance High School (go Raiders!) on Thursday, October 4, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. All blood types are in short supply. Henderson-Vance Safe Kids will have a Child Passengers Safety Car Seat Check on Thursday, September 27, 2007.

There will be a hot dog supper tonight at Union Chapel United Methodist Church. For only $3.00, you can get a hot dog, drink, chips, and a dessert. The proceeds will go to rebuild the sanctuary which was destroyed by fire.

US 98.3 is developing a show that will focus on local bands from Vance, Granville, Franklin, Wake, Durham, Orange, Person, and Warren Counties in North Carolina, and Mecklenburg, Brunswick, and Pittsylvania Counties in Virginia.

The Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers will be holding a fund raiser beginning today through September 9 at Chex Truck World. During the event, Chex will donate five cents for every gallon of gasoline and diesel purchased, as well as five percent of restaurant sales.
