For more than four decades, the name Lelia Brigham was synonymous with Vance-Granville Community College. A continuing education art instructor since practically the beginning of the college in the fall of 1969, Brigham had a longer association with VGCC as an instructor than anyone else prior to her death in December 2014. Four local high school students participated in the third annual Vance-Granville Community College Biotech Workshop, held over the course of two Saturdays in May. VGCC Bioprocess Technology program head Dr. Tara Hamilton conducted the workshop with assistance from one of her students, Melissa Messner of Wilton. Andrew Swanner, Executive Director of Oxford Preparatory School, recently completed the Distinguished Leadership Program (DLP), a year-long leadership development program for practicing school principals designed and provided by the North Carolina Principals and Assistant Principal’s Association in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and UNC-LearnNC.
