Ribbon cut to open Mechatronics Lab at VGCC South Campus
The Granville County Chamber of Commerce recently held a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and open house to celebrate the new Mechatronics lab on Vance-Granville Community College’s South Campus, which is located between Creedmoor and Butner. Area residents and community leaders had a chance to take a closer look at the new Mechatronics Engineering Technology program, which provides training for jobs in advanced manufacturing. Guest speaker offers life lessons to VGCC students
The Male Mentoring Program at Vance-Granville Community College hosted author, entrepreneur, social activist and educator Dr. NKrumah Lewis as a special guest speaker on Nov. 13 on VGCC’s Main Campus. He shared stories from his own life to offer a message of hope to young people, as he does in his autobiography, “Becoming A Butterfly: From Prison to Ph.D.” Lewis, a Durham native, recounted a childhood in an abusive home, followed by homelessness, a life of crime and incarceration. Autumn brings the fall of tree seed
RALEIGH – This autumn, tons of seed from many different tree species have hit the ground in record amounts. And squirrels weren’t the only ones looking for it. N.C. Forest Service staff from across the state collected the seed used to grow more than 50 types of tree seedlings for the agency’s nursery program. Attorney General Roy Cooper: Scammers Use Caller ID to Pose as Cops
Caller ID is helpful, but it isn’t foolproof. In fact, tech-savvy scammers can use it to pose as legitimate businesses or even the police to try to fool you. In a scam reported in Rockingham County this week, a business owner got a call from someone claiming to be with the IRS.
