NCDOT Awards $2.7 Million Contract to Improve 15 Miles of Granville County Roads
RALEIGH — A contract awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation will mean improvements for 15 miles over seven Granville County roads. The $2.7 million contract was awarded to Carolina Sunrock, LLC of Raleigh to resurface roads in the southern part of the county. The Office Administration Club at Vance-Granville Community College recently conducted a community service project to help local schoolchildren in need. Students participated in the nationwide “BackPack Buddies” movement, which seeks to provide children in low-income households with food for the weekend during the school year. The Atlantic hurricane season started June 1, and the season’s outlook issued by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts a near-normal or below normal tropical activity. According to the forecast, there is a 70-percent likelihood of 8 to 13 named storms, of which 3 to 6 could become hurricanes and the potential of 1 to 2 of those becoming a major hurricane.
