I’m pretty sure the public is unaware of what is going on in our school systems here in Henderson. Vance County Schools has failed to pay our Teacher Assistants the correct amount for a number of years for the job of substituting in the classroom when teachers were absent according to the State law indicated in the “Salary Manual – Public Schools of North Carolina”. Henderson Middle School RamsScores Conference Championship in Soccer

Henderson Middle School Rams won the soccer conference championship for the 1st time in school history Monday.  They beat Northern Granville last week who was undefeated in the semi-finals 2-1 and beat Butner  Stem Monday for the championship after a double OT and a shoot out to determine the winner.

Automotive manufacturer, a subsidiary of Aisin AW Co. Ltd., will expand in Durham and Granville Counties

RALEIGH – Governor Pat McCrory and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced Monday that AW North Carolina, a manufacturer of automatic transmissions and transmission components, will expand production at its manufacturing facility in Durham County adding 56 new jobs. Vance-Granville Community College recently named Jean A. Blaine of Durham as the college’s new Director of Occupational Extension. Blaine has been a member of the VGCC staff since 2007 and most recently served as Director of Prison Programs. Livestock producers should be on the lookout for cattle disease

RALEIGH – Two cattle herds in North Carolina have been confirmed positive recently for anaplasmosis at the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Rollins Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. Anaplasmosis is an infectious disease that causes red blood cells to be removed from circulation, resulting in fever, severe anemia  and even death. Cows from both herds have died.
