RALEIGH – Governor Pat McCrory and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced Monday that AW North Carolina, a manufacturer of automatic transmissions and transmission components, will expand production at its manufacturing facility in Durham County adding 56 new jobs. The company will also purchase a manufacturing facility in Granville County and create 85 new jobs there. Vance-Granville Community College recently named Jean A. Blaine of Durham as the college’s new Director of Occupational Extension. Blaine has been a member of the VGCC staff since 2007 and most recently served as Director of Prison Programs. Livestock producers should be on the lookout for cattle disease
RALEIGH – Two cattle herds in North Carolina have been confirmed positive recently for anaplasmosis at the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Rollins Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. Anaplasmosis is an infectious disease that causes red blood cells to be removed from circulation, resulting in fever, severe anemia  and even death. Cows from both herds have died.
