The Vance County Board of Education will hold a special called meeting today, Monday, February 14, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. for the purpose of conducting an executive session. The special meeting will be held at the Administrative Services Center, 1724 Graham Avenue in Henderson, North Carolina. The regular monthly meeting of the board will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the same location.
March county commission meeting changed to 14th
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ regular monthly meeting for March of 2011 has been rescheduled by a resolution of the board from March 7, 2011 to March 14, 2011. The meeting will be held at the usual place and time: the County Administration Building, 122 Young Street in Henderson, North Carolina at 6:00 p.m.

There will be a Sweetheart’s Breakfast at the Liberty Christian Church on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The cost is $6 per person. The menu includes eggs, grits, bacon, sausage, homemade biscuits, coffee, and juice. The Liberty Christian Church is located on NC 39 South in the Epsom Community of Vance County.

On January 25, 2011, officers of the Henderson Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a call from the Cracker Barrel restaurant located at 1002 Ruin Creek Road in response to a larceny.
Charges made in HPD copper sting
Due to the recent increase in metal theft in the Henderson and Vance County areas, the Criminal Investigation Division of the Henderson Police Department and the Vance County Sheriff’s Department recently conducted a joint undercover operation to determine if the local metal recycling facilities were complying with state guidelines.
