City Land Planning Committee meets Thursday
The Henderson City Council’s Land Planning Committee will meet on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. in the City Hall Large Conference Room.
County HR committee meets today
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ Human Resources Committee is scheduled to meet Monday at 5:15 p.m. in the office of County Manager Jerry Ayscue. Ayscue’s office is located in the County Administration Building, 122 Young Street, in Henderson, North Carolina. No agenda for the meeting was provided.
HTSU intercepts alleged identity thieves
On February 25t, 2010 members of the Henderson Police Department’s Highway Traffic Safety Unit (HTSU) conducted a traffic stop on 1-85 South.
Arson at Henderson Middle School
On February 26, 2010 around 9:17 a.m. units with the Henderson Fire Department were dispatched to Henderson Middle School, 219 Charles Street, in reference to signs of smoke.
Search warrants net pot, guns, stolen goods
Chief K. L. Sidwell reports that members of the Henderson Police Department’s Narcotics Unit conducted multiple search warrants at the addresses of 2209 and 2215 Oxford Road in Henderson North Carolina.
NC to get federal Medicaid relief
Gov. Bev Perdue applauded the decision by the Obama Administration and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to provide North Carolina with $152 million in financial relief.
Daeke questions need for more downtown apts
During a discussion of an amendment to the Main Street Grant application that would ultimately increase the number of apartments being constructed in the upper floors of downtown Garnett Street buildings, Henderson City Council member Garry Daeke questioned the amount of housing being constructed.

Operation Medicine Drop week of March 14
Safe Kids Henderson-Vance, in conjunction with the Henderson Police Department, the Vance County Sheriff’s Office, the Henderson Fire Department, the Vance County Fire Department, the Five County Area Mental Health, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the Drug Enforcement Administration is sponsoring a prescription medication take-back program called Operation Medicine Drop during National Poison Prevention Week, March 14—20, 2010.
