Marijuana arrest
Arrests – Latrone Eugene Magbie,of 336 Foster Road lot 1, was arrested for possession of schedule VI drug (marijuana). He was confined in the Vance County Jail under a $1000 secured bond.
Pedestrian injured in hit-and-run
On Friday, April 4, 2008, at approximately 2:36 a.m., officers of the Henderson Police Department responded to the 800 block of Water Street in reference to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
HPD arrests for larceny of spark plugs, deodorant
Arrests – Elizabeth Bullock, of 111 Grace Street, Oxford, was arrested for larceny of two shirts from Belk’s Department Store. The shirts were valued at $55. She was confined to the Vance County Jail under a $300 secured bond.

8th grade writing scores released
North Carolina 8th graders’ writing scores were on par with the national average, and 87 percent of the students performed at the Basic level or better on the 2007 National Assessment of Educational Progress, according to results released last week by the U.S. Department of Education and presented at the April State Board of Education meeting this morning.
