Just a quick reminder about the event happening at The Silo this Thursday, March 29th:

Friends of Youth Program Supervisor Linwood Martin “We all had a mentor at one time,” Linwood Martin told Home in Henderson near the outset of our interview with him.
Wednesday’s open line
Well, the gig is up. No more links to The Daily Dispatch, since readers must now register to read articles on-line and will soon go to a pay format. It was fun while it lasted. HiH, however, plans to remain a free service, although Mrs. Editor pointed out that if I charged $10 per year in subscription fees per user I could quit teaching. It does make one think… Enjoy in good health.
Opinion: Apples and oranges of the computer age
I enjoyed reading the editorial in yesterday’s Daily Dispatch.
Tuesday’s open line
We were disappointed that only one (1) Hendersonian chose to speak at the City Council’s first Preliminary Budget Public Hearing. On the other hand, perhaps they realized that all of our money is about to go right down the tubes. Literally. The microphone is yours. Try to stay on-key. P.S. — Don’t forget to check out HiH Classifieds!
City sewers raise stink
Assistant City Manager Mark Warren and Henderson Water Reclamation Facility Director Tom Spain spoke to the Henderson City Council last night regarding a resolution to present a plan to the state’s Environmental Management Commission for a Special Order of Consent.
Monday’s open line
We applaud Henderson City Council member and FAIR Chair Lynn Harper for affording Henderson residents the opportunity to opine on the budget in its embryonic stage rather than on the eve of its commencement. We trust that Hendersonians will rise to the occasion. Where should our fair city spend? Where should it cut? We suspect the decision-makers are reading, so say it loud and proud on today’s open line.

The Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers will have a fund raiser at the 220 Seafood Restaurant from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on March 26th, 2007. The cost is $6.00 per plate, dine in or take out. We hear that Martha from WIZS will be broadcasting live from the restaurant, so what more could you ask?
Opinion: on donations to HiH
Lately the idea of donations to Home in Henderson has been mentioned on the blog.

Sorry we’ve been away, but the surgery and the responsibilities of family and work overwhelmed us for a bit. If there’s anyone out there who wants to play reporter, we always welcome the input! Mrs. Editor is fast approaching recovery, thank goodness, and life is approaching a state of normalcy once again. We thank those of you who inquired by telephone and email and invite you to do so if we should suddenly disappear in the future! The floor is, …

To the editor: Clarification needed
The letter to the editor that appeared in Sunday’s edition of the Daily Dispatch by Mr. Burnette lacks accuracy and needs clarification.
Wednesday’s open line
Mrs. Editor asked me to express her thanks to all of those who wished her well during her hospital sojourn. She is at home and resting comfortably and on her way to a complete recovery. Please remember that Home in Henderson does not condone political endorsements that are not paid for through our Advertising Department. While readers are encouraged to debate the merits of candidates for political office, the constant repetition of messages such as “Vote for X” or “Vote …
