Saturday’s open line

If nothing else in the past 24 hours, we’ve learned that HomeinHenderson has a diverse readership: We have short people AND tall people, plus a bunch of us somewhere in the middle. We can all get along; we just might not all fit in the VW Bug. On an extremely serious note, we’d like to thank all of you who expressed concern about family members in New Orleans, as well as anyone who is doing anything to help. The editor’s family is safe; his grandmother was evacuated to San Antonio this morning. Tech support’s uncle is still somewhere in the French Quarter, we believe, so please keep him and her in your prayers. Edited by Tech Support 9/4/2005: My uncle has been confirmed as having gotten out of the city on a bus with nearby nursing home residents. He’s not with them anymore, and we haven’t made contact, but we know that he is out of there and safe. Thanks to all for your prayers and support. — Chris

But enough about us. How about that funny-tasting Kerr Lake water? Will anyone actually put their drinking water in a blender? Will the Corps of Engineers give us a bad-taste discount?
