County commission to feature budget hearing


Here are the highlights of tonight’s county commission meeting:

* The meeting will start with a public hearing on the fiscal 2006-2007 budget. Fifteen minutes have been allocated for the hearing.

* Grady Bell will present on the award of a house bid to the Sanders Construction Company for $25,000 for the Vance County Community Development Block Grant Scattered Site Project. The company was the low bidder on the job.

* David Parham will present to the commissioners the ABC Monthly Report.

* Finance officer Jerry Tucker will present two budget amendments. Budget Amendment #35 will appropriate $4,102 in state funds to the JCPC program. Budget Amendment #36 will appropriate $30,060 for new uniforms and emergency lights for six vehicles for the Sheriff’s Office using interdiction funds.

* County Manager Jerry Ayscue will recommend that a detention officer position at the Vance County Jail be filled.

Ayscue will also recommend that a lease agreement for office space for the Vance Economic Development Commission be renewed with Barnett Properties through fiscal 2009-2010. The rent will increase by $50 per year after fiscal 2006-2007.

The county manager will recommend that the board of commissioners adopt a resolution for Medicaid relief to be distributed to all state legislators and other appropriate individuals and organizations.

Ayscue will ask commissioners to schedule a budget work session to review the 2006-2007 proposed budget.

* The board will meet in closed session on a personnel matter.
