Board of Education to meet in special session

The Vance County Board of Education will be meeting in special session today at 12:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Administrative Services Center on 1724 Graham Avenue.

The purpose of the meeting will be to approve closeout budget amendments for the 2005-2006 school year, consider student transfer requests, and vote on personnel recommendations.

There has been a great deal of speculation as to how administrative personnel will be allocated to key positions within the county.

The board will also vote on an interim budget for the 2006-2007 school year. Since Vance County Schools’ budget is highly contingent on state funds, it is not possible to finalize the budget until the North Carolina State Assembly finalizes its budget and makes its school allocations for the fiscal year.
