Library grand opening tomorrow

The Grand Opening of the new H. Leslie Perry Memorial Library is set for tomorrow, Wednesday, July 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the new facility on 200 Breckenridge Street.

Festivities will follow the schedule below:

Whole Village Drum & Dance Ensemble
11:00 a.m. Whole Drum Village and Dance Ensemble (above)

Ballet Arts All Stars
12:00 p.m. The Ballet Arts All Stars (above)

1:00 p.m. The Cotton Memorial Presbyterian Church Liturgical Dancers

3:00 p.m. The Annointed Community Dancers

4:00-6:00 p.m. To be announced

Classical guitarist Phillip Brantly and harpist Trudy Hocutt will also be present.

Children’s characters Winnie the Pooh, Bob the Builder, Snow White, SpongeBob SquarePants, Casey Jones, Blackbeard, the Queen of Hearts, and some surprise visitors will be on hand.

There will be a slide show of the library’s history. There will also be the opportunity to win prizes in a scavenger hunt. To give readers of Home in Henderson an early advantage, here are the floor plans of the new facility:

New library hours will run as follows:

Monday and Tuesday: 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday through Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

July is fine-free! There are no penalties for overdue books returned in July!
