To the editor: channel your “ranger rage”

I would like to address an earlier issue that was swept under the rug by the Wedesday discussion regarding the unnamed reverend who made headlines this week.

We all know that park rangers have a job to do, and that they are the “police” in their domain. A degree of respect should be awarded to these fine officers because they have been specially trained in their field.

Please remember that we are living in a county that needs to bring in every dollar that we can. Campers not only rent a campsite, but they rent and buy water crafts. They buy gas here. They buy food and camping supplies here. Go to Wal-Mart and check out the ones buying sunscreen, food and lanterns, water, and toys. They may go out and enjoy a well-served meal at one of our many restaurants. They buy newspapers.

With that said, may I enlighten those that may have been rubbed the wrong way about the treatment of campers who come to our county’s lake and spend their money here? You do have a voice. With a little research, I would like to include an address and the director’s name to whom you can vent your frustrations:

Lewis Ledford, Director
NC Division of Parks and Recreation
1615 Mail Service Center
Raleigh, NC 27699-1615

And with a little more digging, I found an e-mail address on the North Carolina goverment home page:

lewis.ledford@ncmail.net

Now, if you are truly upset about the rude behavior paying campers receive, you can voice your opinions.

Respectfully,

Ms. Trap
