Report on council self-investigation possible tonight

Among various items scheduled for tonight’s city council meeting, Attorney Charles Davis, who has been retained by the Henderson City Council to investigate allegations made by Dennis Tharrington, may make a report to the council.

The report is scheduled as a “Possible Add-On Item” according to the council’s agenda. It is also indicated that the report may be a possible closed session matter.

Tharrington, a local businessman, accused the city council of improprieties in the hiring of the current city manager during a joint meeting of the council and the Embassy Square Executive Board on May 24. His remarks may be heard here.

Other items for tonight’s meeting:

* There will be a public hearing on the closing out of the Embassy Block CDBG project.

* There will be another public hearing on an ordinance amending fees for zoning.

* The public hearing on the renewal of the Time-Warner Cable franchise extension will be continued yet again.

* Community Development Chair Garry Daeke will report on the Davis Street CDBG Project. That project is currently the subject of some controversy as the council debates how to apply the funds, given the area landlord’s reluctance to participate.

* Journal Committee Chair Elissa Yount will present to the council on the pending ethics policy.

* Henderson Mayor Clem Seifert will present HUD consultants a certificate of appreciation.
