EXPO 2006 draws 1,200
EXPO Collage Click to enlarge image The 17th Annual Business Exposition, EXPO 2006, held on Tuesday, October 10, drew approximately 1,200 residents to the Vance-Granville Community College Civic Center from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Gupton shows imbalance in city/county joint funding
FAIR Committee member Bobby Gupton presented Vance County’s Intergovernmental Committee with a spreadsheet that he claimed showed an excessive tax burden on Henderson city residents in jointly funded city/county projects.

Wife drops charge against Dale
The Daily Dispatch is reporting that Shirelle Dale has dropped the misdemeanor assault charges against her husband, the Reverend C.J. Dale, effectively ending the state’s ability to go forward with prosecution.

Michael Putney, the principal at Dabney Elementary School, reported to Vance County parents via the Connect Ed telephone system last night that a loaded gun and a knife were found in two separate student backpacks at his school yesterday.

E.O. Young Assistant Principal Cheryl Coplin with award At the Vance County Board of Education meeting held at the Administrative Services Center Monday at 7 p.m., the Attendance Award for the first school month went to E.O. Young Elementary School, with an average of 98.58%.
