Tuesday’s open line

Once, long ago, I followed alleged shoplifters in my car.

I had just finished spilling gasoline all over myself at the station at the corner of Ruin Creek Road and North Cooper Road. Someone had left the pump handle engaged.

When I got back into the car, Angela told me to follow a certain car that came around the bend, which I did. I wasn’t very good at it. With the adrenalin pumping, I rode the “suspects” bumper and they spotted her police radio and took off. It wasn’t too long before some real police cars showed up, the alleged shoplifters bailed, and the situation was taken into hand.

Later, Angela was kind enough to point out everything I had done wrong. The moral of the story? I’ll take kids over cons any day.
