Shooting causes car accident, death

On Tuesday morning, December 26, at 2:24 a.m., Officer M. A. Carmona responded with emergency medical personnel to Pinkston Street at its intersection with Andrews Avenue to investigate a citizen’s report that a vehicle had collided with a utility pole.

Officer Carmona arrived to find a blue 1992 Buick LeSabre sedan resting against a utility pole on the northeast corner of the intersection. The officer found the driver of the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators from the Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division were called to the scene to assume the investigation. Investigators have established victim’s identity as Kenneth Hart, age 35, of Henderson. He died at the scene. No motive is known for the shooting, and the investigation is continuing.

While investigators believe that the cause of Hart’s death was the direct result of the gunshot injury, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy for the purpose of making an official cause of death determination.
