The Vance County observance of the national Safe Kids week was, unfortunately, sparsely attended this year by children.
However, several local agencies came out to the recreation complex to provide valuable information about safety services available to the youth of the area, including:

Maria Parham Medical Center
Vance County Fire Department

Henderson Police Department
Army Corps of Engineers

WIZS
North Carolina Cooperative Extension

Henderson-Vance YMCA

Vance County Schools Transportation Department “Little Yellow School Bus”

Five County Mental Health Authority
Assistance for the event was provided by the Henderson Police Departments VIPS (Volunteers in Police Services).

A moonwalk was made available for the entertainment of younger children.

At the conclusion of the day’s activities, three bicycles were given away for children ages zero to five, six to ten, and eleven to fourteen.

Hot dogs, soda, and chips were available for free to those who attended.
