Mayor and City Council
City of Henderson
P. O. Box 1434
Henderson, NC 27536

Dear Mayor and City Council Members:

Please accept this letter as my intent to resign the position of City Manager for Henderson effective October 30, 2007.

I appreciate the opportunity to have served in this position for the past twenty two (22) months. I enjoyed working with the current City Council and have enjoyed my career with the City of Henderson which has spanned nearly four (4) decades.

To ensure a smooth transition and allow the newly seated City Council to make a hiring decision on a new City Manager, I have included the name of a retired City Manager from Wilson whose name is Ed Wyatt. Mr. Wyatt’s most recent duty as Interim City Manager was with the Town of Louisburg where he served until Mark Warren was hired as full time manager. Mr. Wyatt can be reached at 252-237-5639 (Home) or 252-314-9658 (Cell).

If I may, I would suggest that the Human Resources Committee (Mr. Alston, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Harper) and Mayor Seifert contact Mr. Wyatt (if you desire) to determine his willingness to serve in this capacity on an interim basis until a permanent replacement can be found.

As most of you know, this is my home and I would like to see Henderson become one of the best small cities in North Carolina (I worked toward that my entire career with the City) so I wish the new City Council well in their efforts to make that happen.

Sincerely,

CITY OF HENDERSON

Jerry L. Moss
City Manager
