Mayor calls special meeting of Council

Henderson Mayor Clem Seifert has called a special meeting of the Henderson City Council for Monday, October 15, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. in City Hall.

According to a notification by City Clerk Dianne White, the purpose of the meeting will be to discuss a personnel matter in accordance with NCGS § 143-318.11(a)(6).

Whenever this statute is invoked, it usually entails a closed session.

The session will most likely revolve around the resignation of City Manager Jerry Moss which will become effective on October 30. As former Assistant City Manager Mark Warren left the City recently to assume the role of Town Manager of Louisburg, there is no clear line of succession within the City’s management structure for someone to immediately assume the role of interim City Manager while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement.

In Moss’ resignation letter, he suggested that Ed Wyatt, a retired City Manager from Wilson whose most recent employment experience was as an interim manager for Louisburg before Warren accepted the job.

It is unknown if the Council will consider Wyatt in its search.
