HPD intervenes in home invasion


On May 20, 2008 at 12:40 a.m. officers of the Henderson Police Department responded to 615 Alexander Avenue regarding a report of gunshots and a loud disturbance.

Upon arrival by officers, one individual jumped from a side window of the residence and ran into a wooded area adjacent to the residence.

When police entered the building, six individuals were found inside with their hands bound with duct tape. There were three other people in the house who were not restrained by tape.

Upon further investigation, one individual was located within the residence with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The three suspects in this home invasion were detained inside the residence, and after further investigation, the following people were arrested and charged:

Charges: First degree burglary, first degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury

Court date: June 26, 2008

Bond: $300,000 secured on each

Preston Williams, the victim of the shooting, was transported to Maria Parham Medical Center and later airlifted to Duke Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition.

Two handguns were located and also seized from 615 Alexander Avenue that are believed to have been used by the assailants.

All of the victims stated that the suspects listed above forced their way into the residence through the front door and forced the victims onto the floor and taped their hands. They then ransacked the house and took money from several of the victims.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are pending in this case.
