Relay For Life team members will participate in two fund raisers for the American Cancer Society on Saturday.

Beginning at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Relayers will be at Adventure Island to raise money in the fight against cancer. Among the items for sale will be two shirts which support the cause.

Relay T-Shirts

Fight like a girl shirts are available in small to XL for $10 and XXL for $12. The T-shirts are brown with “Fight like a girl” in pink on the front. The shirts were created to celebrate the fight women face against breast cancer, but have come to symbolize the determination anyone can have to fight against the disease.

Relay T-Shirts

Also available in a variety of child’s and adult sizes – for $10 – is the Emily Hollis shirt. This light blue shirt with a caterpillar scene was designed by Emily Hollis of Hampstead during her battle with cancer. The design was chosen to represent the Kids Walk at her county’s Relay For Life in April. Emily lost her battle days prior to the Relay, but the celebration of her young life continues with this shirt and her family asked that it be shared in other communities.

Following the afternoon at Adventure Island, the celebration of Relay For Life will move to the Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre. The theater will show Star Wars: The Clone War and The Dark Knight beginning at 9:00 p.m. Beginning at 7:00 p.m., T-shirts, raffle tickets and other items will be sold to support the American Cancer Society.

Star Wars characters, including CP30 and R2D2, also will be on hand from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Anyone interested in the T-shirts who cannot purchase them on Saturday can contact Liz Catlett at 252.492.6429 to order.
