Vance law enforcement rehearses response to an armed suspect on campus

Several Vance County Schools principals, as well as city, county, and state officials were at Vance-Granville Community College’s North Campus this morning to witness a mock law enforcement scenario in which an armed suspect opens fire at the community college.

Brian Beatty from the North Carolina Department of Crime and Public Safety was present, along with Vance County Commission Chair Danny Wright, Commissioners Deborah Brown and Dan Brummitt, Henderson Mayor Pete O’Geary, Henderson City Council member George Daye, as well as officials from Granville County and the city of Oxford.

Vance County Sheriff Peter White was also present for the exercise.
