To the editor: Veteran’s Day

As we approach another Veterans Day, I urge all our citizens to say a Hearty “Thank You” to all the Veterans.

We do not forget the ones who served and sacrificed, but the ones that paid the ultimate sacrifice for Freedom. Yes, on this Veterans Day let us not forget the ones that are now serving all over the world and their families, for this precious country and the freedom we enjoy. We should thank our military and veterans every day.

We have just come through a long and hard fought election. Lots have been said about both candidates, but let us join in giving our full support to President Elect Barrack Obama. This freedom to vote and make our choices known is one of the privileges that Veterans have protected and provided. As General George S. Patton is quoted “ When everyone is thinking alike, then someone is not thinking.”

I know the American Legion and VFW Posts in Henderson will have some special program and I urge all of you to support their efforts. I am in the area where there will be lots of programs for the Veterans. It is hard to realize that 54 years ago, this time of year, I was going through “Boot Camp” at Lackland AFB.

As I close, I always remind people that “If you can read this thank a teacher, since it is in ENGLISH, thank a VETERAN.”
