HPD arrests alleged counterfeiters

On November 12, 2008, the Highway Traffic Safety Unit (HTSU) of the Henderson Police Department stopped a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 85 for a traffic violation.

Upon further investigation, officers found the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee had been stolen from Washington, D.C.

After a search of the vehicle, officers located three computers and 200 blank counterfeit credit cards having the logo of Discover and MasterCard. Officers also located 1,200 blank cards with no logo or numbers, 21 counterfeit credit cards having false names and numbers already printed on the cards, nine cell phones, and one labeling machine.

All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged. The investigation is still continuing by members of the HTSU, the HPD’s Criminal Investigations Division, and the United States Secret Service.
