The Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre is hoping to start a new tradition in Henderson this year.
Many towns have “First Night” New Years Eve events for their communities which are geared towards family activities leading up to the ushering in of the new year at midnight.
This year, FIRST NIGHT-HENDERSON will be held at the Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre, 3336 Raleigh Road, Henderson, from 9:00 p.m. until just after midnight. From 9:00 -10:00 p.m., families can visit with BO HO THE CLOWN, WINNIE THE POOH, ELMO and THE CHIC-FIL-A COW, followed by games and trivia contests with prizes awarded to winners provided by ASHLEY HOME FURNITURE and THE RALEIGH ROAD OUTDOOR THEATRE.
From 10:00 p.m. until just before midnight, see the family movie: MARLEY & ME, which is rated PG.
At midnight, we will usher in 2009 with a large POPCORN BALL being dropped from a 100 foot crane provided by ALVIN JOHNSON CRANE SERVICE. There will also be fireworks and sparkling cider with popcorn at midnight.
While the Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre would love to make this a free event, we must cover the film rental costs for MARLEY & ME. We have come up with a special car load price for the night: $12 A CAR. You may reserve now by going to our theatre website. Tickets will also be available the night of the event at the theatre.
