Leaders to visit Rocky Mount unemploy. office Friday


Rocky Mount -— Employment Security Commission Chair Moses Carey, Jr. and Congressman G. K. Butterfield will visit Rocky Mount’s state employment office on Friday, February 20th.

Carey and Butterfield will visit the Rocky Mount ESC office to speak with applicants and discuss the increased benefits included in the recently enacted federal stimulus package.

Edgecombe County’s jobless rate of 13.8% ranks second worst in the state. Nash County, which has a 10.6% unemployment rate, is also among the 34 counties across the state suffering double digit unemployment.

Care and Butterfield will discuss the provisions of the federal stimulus that provide increased unemployment benefits and assistance in retaining employer-sponsored health insurance.
