Council hears comments on water bills, street lamps

Henderson resident Rosa Bullock addressed the Henderson City Council yesterday during their regular short session regarding a family having to pay a two year-old water bill to get water service.

It is not clear what Bullock’s relationship is to the family in question.

Bullock claimed that residents do not have enough support from city staff.

The former Weed & Seed director said that there are children and elderly people in the home in question and that the situation is “not healthy”.

James R. Woodlief, Sr. told members that he had a water bill of $225 in August due to a corroded underground pipe. He told the council that he did not have income at the time and that he has been using rainwater ever since.

Resident Emma L. Foster asked members why a streetlight had been moved away from her house. Assistant City Manager Frank Frazier told members that the light had been moved so that the lights on her street would be more evenly spaced and provide illumination to an increased area.
