Board of ed. Finance Committee to meet
The Vance County Board of Education’s Finance Committee will meet today at 1:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Administrative Services Center’s Superintendent’s Conference Room at 1724 Graham Avenue in Henderson. No agenda was provided for the meeting.

Chief K.L. Sidwell reports that members of the Henderson Police Department Narcotics Unit served a search warrant on the address of 527 Water Street in Henderson.
County committees to meet
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ Public Safety Committee is scheduled to meet this Friday, February 27, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. to discuss fire and emergency medical services. The meeting will be in the County Manager Jerry Ayscue’s office. Also, the Human Resources Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, March 2, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. in Ayscue’s conference room. No agenda was given for the human resources meeting.

Atkinson to attend White House briefing
North Carolina State Superintendent of Public Instruction June Atkinson will join her fellow chief state school officers today, Wednesday, February 25, at 1:30 p.m., for a White House briefing on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and its impact on public schools. Council hears comments on water bills, street lamps
Henderson resident Rosa Bullock addressed the Henderson City Council yesterday during their regular short session regarding a family having to pay a two year-old water bill to get water service.
