Ashley Renee Lewis, a senior at Southern Vance High School, was honored with a recognition by the Henderson City Council during its regular meeting on Monday evening.

Henderson Mayor Pete O’Geary called Lewis a “busy person” as he enumerated her many accomplishments.

Lewis participates in soccer, the marching band, and several other organizations. She hold a 3.9 GPA, is in the top 10% of her class, is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Math Honor Society, and the National Beta Club.

“How do you ever find time to study?” O’Geary asked her jokingly.

Lewis has been accepted to UNC Wilmington to study pre-med.

Lewis’ parents, John & Angela Miles, stood with her as she claimed her certificate of recognition. Henderson City Council member Brenda Peace is her pastor.

Peace noted as Lewis accepted her certificate that there are some positive things in Flint Hill.
