Spring litter sweep set for April 25
The Henderson Community Appearance Commission and the Vance County Appearance Commission are coordinating a Henderson-Vance County Spring Litter Sweep event for Saturday, April 25, 2009.

Local businessman Sam Watkins asked the Vance County Board of Commissioners to endorse his seeking of grants to develop a plan to extend sewer service from Zeb Vance Elementary School to the Kittrell Job Corps.
Bids in for jail renovations; still too much
Surapon Sujjavanich, the architect in charge of the renovations to the Vance County Jail, informed the Vance County Board of Commissioners on Monday night that the low bidder for the jail renovations was Blue Ridge Enterprises, Inc., of Mt. Aire.

Commissioners decline to demolish Kittrell property
Main Street, Kittrell property the Vance County Board of Commissioners chose to leave standing during its regular Monday meeting Jordan McMillen of the Vance County Planning Department, along with code enforcement officers Kevin Cash and Chris Mallard, told the Vance County Board of Commissioners on Monday night that they were seeking a resolution to demolish a structure on Main Street in Kittrell.

On March 17, 2009, Antonio Peace stated that he was at Party Pick-Up and a black male approached his vehicle, reached inside, and took a .45 caliber handgun.

County votes to sever fire/EMS contract with city
With Commissioners Eddie Wright and Tim Pegram opposed, the Vance County Board of Commissioners voted 5-2 to terminate its relationship with the City of Henderson as of October 1, 2009.
