Vance County announced yesterday the appointment of a new Tax Administrator, Porcha Brooks, in an emailed press release yesterday afternoon.
Brooks will assume her duties on Monday, February 1, 2010.
According to the release, Brooks has over twenty years of property tax experience in the Durham County Tax Office and is currently a division manager there.
“We are excited to have Mrs. Porcha Brooks as Tax Administrator in Vance County,” said
County Manager Jerry Ayscue. “It is anticipated that her extensive experience and education will enhance the operations of the Tax Office. Her leadership skills and other professional attributes will be of great value to our
citizens.”
The County has been recruiting to fill the position made vacant by the retirement of former Tax Administrator Sam Jones since last April. During that time, Cindy Lloyd has served as Interim Tax Administrator.
In making the announcement, Ayscue expressed appreciation for a job well done Lloyd during the interim period.
Brooks and her family currently reside in Durham. They will be relocating to Vance County as soon as possible.
