HPD traffic stop reveals stolen firearm


On January 27, 2010 a patrol officer with the Henderson Police Department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of First Ave and Parkway Drive, Henderson.

Upon stopping, the driver ran from the vehicle.

Additional officers converged on the area in an attempt to locate the suspect.

The suspect, Terrell Holmes, 22, of 8105 NC 39 Highway South in Henderson, fled into a wooded area near City Tire on West Andrews Avenue.

Eventually, Holmes was apprehended by responding officers. Upon a canine search by Henderson Police Department canine Zoey, a handgun was found where Holmes was apprehended. A check of the handgun was conducted, and was found to have been listed as stolen from a breaking and entering that occurred in Vance County on October 11, 2009 at.

Holmes was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by felon, possession of a stolen firearm, resisting, delaying, and obstructing, driving while license revoked, and expired registration. He was given a $100,000 secured bond and remains in the Vance County Jail pending an initial court appearance on March 16, 2010.
