Henderson couple receive federal sentence


A Henderson couple was sentenced January 5, 2010 in federal court in New Bern, North Carolina on several drug and firearm violations.

Chief United States District Judge Louise W. Flanagan sentenced Robert Quinta Boyd of 552 High Street In Henderson to an active 80 month sentence in the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Boyd was remanded to custody at the completion of his hearing.

Robert Boyd plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to make a false statement in connection with the purchase of a firearm and knowingly transferring a firearm to a prohibited person. Boyd also plead guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute more than five grams of cocaine base (“crack” cocaine) and one count of use of a firearm in th furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Robert Boyd will be placed on supervised probation for a period of five years at the conclusion of his active sentence.

Flanagan also sentenced Charita Woodward Boyd to an active term of eleven months in the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Boyd was to surrender herself to the Bureau of Prisons before January 15, 2010.

Charita Boyd plead guilty to one count of aiding and abetting the possession of a firearm by a felon. Boyd will be placed on supervised probation for a period of three years at the conclusion of her active sentence.

The Henderson Police Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms jointly investigated this case. The Henderson Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms will continue to conduct joint investigations and prosecute criminals on the federal level where appropriate.
