Op. Medicine Drop collects nearly 10,000 pills

Operation Medicine Drop collected pills 03-31-10

Safe Kids Henderson-Vance, the Henderson Police Department, the Vance County Sheriff’s Office, and the Five County Area Mental Health Authority announced today that the Operation Medicine Drop prescription drug take-back events held during Poison Prevention Week collected and disposed of 9,887 dosages of unused and expired prescription and over-the-counter drugs from the public.

The collections from the event include:

  • March 17th at Mast Family Drug Center: 4,380 dosages
  • March 18th at Henderson Fire Station 1 & Vance County Fire Station: 1,296 dosages
  • March 20th at the H. Leslie Perry Memorial Library: 4,211 dosages
  • Operation Medicine Drop is sponsored across North Carolina by Safe Kids North Carolina, the N.C. Department of Insurance, State Bureau of Investigation, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
