Etheridge on passing of Dorothy Height

Washington, D.C. -— U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) released the following statement on the passing of civil rights icon and humanitarian, Dorothy Height:

“Dorothy Height’s work and her life touched us all in a positive way through the civil rights movement and the National Council of Negro Women. Through the years, her integrity and reputation led numerous national leaders like First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, President Dwight D. Eisenhower and President Lyndon B. Johnson to seek her counsel.

“Ms. Height worked to bring Americans together and heal our country during its darkest times and many of its most hopeful endeavors. Through her many years of service, Dorothy gave what President Abraham Lincoln called, “the last full measure of devotion” to America. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.”
