North Carolina Gov. Bev Purdue released her recommended budget for fiscal 2011 yesterday morning.
According to an electronic newsletter from Purdue, the budget cuts almost $1 billion and 600 state positions. It also eliminates more than 70 programs the governor has deemed “unnecessary or inefficient”.
Purdue’s budget reserves $100 million for the state’s “rainy day fund”.
