To the editor: We need Dan Brummitt

Since he was elected in 2006, Dan Brummitt has distinguished himself as one of the best, if not the best, commissioner to have ever served the citizens of Vance County.

The first Republican to have ever unseated an incumbent Democrat, he has worked tirelessly for the betterment of Vance County citizens.

For the last four years, he has worked hard being a commissioner. An honorable gentleman, he put his business on the back burner, made representing us his number one goal, has shown he is worthy of the trust we placed in him, and has definitely exceeded our expectations.

The local press has reported time and time again about his strong leadership. But what is more important in the eyes of his constituents is the leadership he has demonstrated behind the scenes. His preparation, his hard work, his ethics, his insistence on putting the taxpayer first, and his unwavering focus on what is right have improved our lives in more ways than we can imagine.

He fought to protect our property rights. Almost singlehandedly, he kept the property reappraisal process from becoming a total disaster, saving us untold millions of dollars in taxes. He has fought to control the growth of government spending. He has fought hard to keep our taxes from rising. He has fought hard to keep our successful county out of the clutches of Henderson’s destroyers.

Dan Brummitt is a good steward of our tax dollars, a good leader, and a good friend. We need him and more like him on the commission. Next Tuesday, do something positive for Vance County. Re-elect Dan Brummitt.
